Question 40: Chapter 11

After you have gained new knowledge about Chris from this particular chapter of his childhood and years prior to college, I would like you to take that information and apply it to the following task.

Task: Hypothetically, if Chris just transferred to St. Mary High School half way through his Freshman year, plan out what he would do over the course of his four years at St. Mary. What would he participate in? What sports, school oriented clubs, etc.
In order to get the best possible score on this task, you must be as specific as possible in your response. You will incorporate specific information from the chapter and page numbers to support reasoning. You will use specific sports/ school groups, places in Westfield, etc. to formulate your response. Make sure your response is appropriate! This response need not be longer than a paragraph, but responses of fewer than 4-7 sentences will most likely receive a lower grade than those who put in obvious effort or went above and beyond*.

* Preferred! :)

  1. I believe that if Christopher was to go to STM that he would fit in perfectly. I say this because throughout the book people who met Chris said that he was a very outgoing person. They said that he was a very talkitive person who was very friendly towards everyone he met. I also believe that he would be very well liked because he is very into nature and cutting away from society. Through my experiences in STM i have met a numerous amounts of people who are very much into nature. Personally i would definetly be-friend Chris. I think that from what the people who him met along his journey have said, that he would have alot of friends. I believe that he would join the cross country team because of how long he walked through nature. I belive that in his stay here, Chris would be employed at McDonald's, i say this because of his prior experience of working at McDonald's. I believe that Chris would hang around the bar called, " THE NOOK." I say this because this is a very affordable bar, at this bar i believe they sell alcohol, which Chris was very into drinking as a beverage. I believe that he would participate in going to this bar veyr often, possibly three or four nights a week.

  2. If Chris came to school today, he would fit in very well. He was very talkative and could make conversation with anyone. He was also a very nice person. For sports, he would probably do Cross Country, because he seems to be very fit and like nature. Chris would have a lot of friends, due to the fact that he could make anyone laugh. He would defiantly be in the drama club. Also, he likes nature, so he would probably be in the Respect Life Club.

  3. If Chris were to go to St. Mary High, i believe that he would have been a different person. I believe that he would have been an athlete and played sports. Although on weekends he would camp and spend time with friends, I think the Chris we read about would not have been the Chris of STM. I would befriend Chris in an instant because he seems like a nice boy. He would play sports to spend time in the outdoors but would have never taken it as far as he did. He would work for the Hartley Brothers landscaping company. This is so that he could spend time with nature and work hard for his money. I feel as though he wouldn't want a easy job.

  4. If Chris was to transfer into St Mary's halfway through he freshman year he would fit in very well with a few people here at the school. He would fit in well with Felix! They both love the outdoors very much and enjoy hunting and are both very talkative. Chris would be liked by alot of people because he was intelligent, talkative, and very nice and most of all he can make anyone laugh so he would gain a vast amount of friends. He would play cross country because he loves to be in nature and running in nature. He would be in Respect life and key club becuase he like charity and charitable events. He also would even make a club called "nature club" where we wuold go out and just enjoy the nature.

He would be talktive and everyone would enjoy his company. He would probably do Cross Country if he was at the school. He would like to be in Chemistry beacuse him and Mr. G have simiar personalities

  6. I think that it would take Chris a little while to settle in. After the second half of freshman year i think he would be good friends with just about everyone especially those few outdoorsy kids that we have (Felix). I think that he would get involved in the clubs and excel in english class. I also think that he would join as many sports teams seeing as he loves being active and outside.

  7. Like D Money and Trevor said, I think that Chris would definitely fit in at STM, and would absolutely have made a friend in me. I believe he would have joined sports teams such as golf or cross country. Golf, because of its nonchalant pace, which would also give him more time to admire the creativity of the landscaping, and cross country because he would be able to spend a lot of time in the woods. For clubs i think he would most likely join something like respect life, where he would be able to express himself through helping others and his world, or key club which focuses on charity.His favorite class would probably be biology, where he would be able to learn about how all of nature works.

  8. I feel that if Chris came into Saint Mary’s High School halfway through freshmen year, there would be no problems for him. He would most likely fit in well with everyone, for the book tells us he had a very outgoing personality. If he came to this school, it seems he would be a person with very good grades and no problem with schoolwork. Since he was outgoing and talkative, he would have no problem asking questions in class and participating with everything class wise. Chris would also most likely be involved in a lot of sports. He was very into nature so he would probably join cross country and he was all for doing good for nature and the community that he would join the Respect Life Club.

  9. If Chris were to attend St. Mary's halfway through freshmen year, I think he would have no problem fitting in. He is known to be talkative and easy going in the book, just like many of the kids at St. Mary's. I think he would join cross country, golf, or tennis because he loves being outside in nature. I think he would be in key club because he enjoys doing things for others and he is a hardworker so he would do well with volunteering with community service. I also think he would have plenty of friends and he would probably excel in biology because of his love for nature.

  10. I believe that Chris would get along great at St. Mary High. If he were at a normal school, he most likely would retract like he did at his job. I believe STM is an open enough community that a persons belief aren't supressed. Chris would most likely run Cross Country, because of his religious fascination with nature and running. I don't quite know what else he would be in.He would be well received, I believe.

  12. Chris had many aspiring talents. If he were to transfer to St. Mary's High School, there would be a number of things he would participate in. First, I think he would participate in almost all honor classes because because he was academically talented. He effortlessly brought home A's stated on page 109. Chris would be in a musically program in the school, whether it be the High School Choir or the drama club for the instruments needed in the play because Chris was talented musically stated on page 110. Chris would most likely be on the debate team, because he often had arguments with the ways things were being done and the way he thought they should be done, like on page 109, the only class that Chris had failed was Physics because he thought that it was dumb that he had to turn his labs in, in a certain format, so he decided to ignore the format. Chris would probably be on the cross country team, because he like to do hiking and cross country is probably the most athletic sport like hiking. On page 109, it states the love Chris had for hiking. Also he was the captain of the cross country squad at W. T. Woodson High School. Chris would probably not participate in any other sports because he did not like method and was always impatient with sports, page 110. I feel Chris would be in respect life or the key club because he was all about helping people (page 113), he was also very spiritual (page 112). Chris would also most likely take an engineering class because he could build things (page 116). Chris probably would take a business class, because he knew how the world worked profit-making wise (page 116).
