  1. This quote applies to Chris's life because i felt like this quote explained also Chris's feelings of his life. He went out into the woods to dicover what the world could be without the boundaries of modern society. When I read this quote I think about all the movies and the books that I have read. How the characters of these stories live out the dreams that still remain in my mind. The fact that they live out the " fairytale" is something that applies to both Chris and I.

  2. I feel that this quote applies to Chris' life in a great way. He went into the woods where there is a lot of danger and possibility for exitement. I feel like this quote shows that a calm course of existance is not for Chris because his actions show he was not one to sit around and life a life of boredom. The expedition into the wilderness is also a good way to outlet his abundance of energy. This is because life or death situations take a lot of effort to get through and effort is a way to expend energy.-----Jez

Also CHris is sacrificing himself for his love of nature and excitement, he does not want a quiet life. This quote Speaks to me and says that i should find a little more excitement in my life and not take a calm course of existence.

  4. As a response to the second part of the question, yes it does make me think in a different way. I feel like it gives ideas for ways to expend energy. It also makes me think that a little excitement in life is a great thing as long as we do it in a positive way. Calm is good, but excitement is also a positive thing.

  6. This quote is one that i have thought of throughout my whole life. It was one of the decisive factors that led to my decision of living the life in nature. It was all of what this quote entails. Risky, dangerous, exciting, is what the life in the nature is all about. I am a vivid follower Tolstoy, and believe his work is very inspirational.

  7. This quote relates to Chris' life because it was clear that he craved a life of excitement and silence from society. He wanted to give up what he realized wasn't important and he wanted to begin to live a life of simplicity. Also, i felt that if I were to do what Chris did I would find excitement in it and a "superabundance of engery".

  8. This quote definitely related to Chris' life because everything said in that quote gives a reason to why he decided to do what he did. He didn't want to live a boring life, he wanted to be free and experiance what he always wanted to experiance. The quote says that the person wanted danger and to sacrifice themselves for love; Well, Chris risked everything to live a life of simplicity. This quote does speak my thoughts because I don't want to be trapped inside the limits society has on us. A better life is a free one.

  10. The quote fits Chris very well yet not perfectly. Chris goes out on his own out of the desire to live more like this quote suggests. He merely wants to live in a free way where he could release excess energy. He obviously didn't look over this quote as closely as one may think. In his SOS, he did not seem to find death alone in the wilderness to be "a sacrifice of love." He just kept making his decision so rashly that he set himself up for failure.

  11. Chris is clearly telling us that he does not wish to live his life in a rut. He dosnt want to conform to the normal and lax existence that todays society has set in place, and instead has chosen to live with an everchanging lifestyle of adventure

  12. I think that it can be easily seen that Chris cannot stand living out his life doing the same things day in and day out. He does not want to accommodated to how everyone else lives in their "normal" lives. He wishes to live a life of adventure and freeness with no boundaries to restrict his personality.

  13. I feel like Chris applied this quote to his life because he went out into the wild to live a life of potential danger and excitement. Chris wasn't the type of person to just sit back and let his life go by, Chris is against the "normal" style of life so he made his own. Chris had a lot of enegery he wanted to get rid if so he did that the best way he thought he could, live in the woods

  14. This quote applies to Chris McCandles greatly. This is probably why he highlighted it. In the quote it mentions living dangerously and with excitement. Chris's idea of living dangerously and with excitement was probably going out into the wild and surviving without many supplies. It was the risk of going out with nothing but living off the land that most likely excited him. The quote also mentions sacrificing yourself for love, and Chris was in love with the nature and he was going to sacrifice himself, even if it meant dying in the wilderness.
Yes this quote speaks to me. I think anyone and everyone can relate to this quote. I feel everyone wants excitement and danger in their life. Even if its a little excitement and danger like a rollercoaster to big things like skydiving or even more risky events.
