  1. 22. He stayed in Bullhead City, Arizona. I believe he stayed there for so long because he had a solid job, wit ha good enough pay, along with people around him that were very kind to him. He stayed there also because he really liked the city itself, and said it was a good place to stay for the winter.
    23. I believe that the job at Mcdonald's was something that was very random. I believe he did this because he wanted to settle down for a bit. I think he most likely got sick of the " tramping" life.
    24. This coincides the aspects of both moral enthusiasm, because he truly didn't like socks, as well as individualism, because no one else did this and he strongly believed that he had no use for socks.
    25. His colleagues described him as a very dependable person, and a very hard-worker. If i worked there and saw his radical ideas i would probably think he was a very odd person.
26.I think he got along with them so well because the ewer into the same stuff Chris was into. Jan sold books, a lot of classic books that Chris really liked. They also gave him his space when he needed it.

24, I think individualism because no one even thought of doing it and he really thought he had zero use for socks. Also Moral enthusiasm because he didn't like socks at all
25,His fellow workers that he was very hard working and was someone they could depend on. If i worked with him i would have thought he was a very strange weird person

  4. 22.) Chris stayed in Bullhead City, Arizona. I think he stayed there for so long because he was comfortable and in a good place where he was. He had a good job, good friends, and enough money.
23.) My feelings toward Chris' job at McDonald's was that it was really just out of need to be away from all of his nature traveling for a while. He needed money and a decent stable life as a break.
24.) Chris didn't want to wear socks at all and went against what everyone else did. This goes with individualism because he really did not like socks and even though no one else felt that way, he stuck with it.
25.) Chris' coworkers though that Chris was really nice and a good hard worker. If I worked with Chris I would probably think the same way.
26.) Chris got along really well with Jon and Bob because they had common interests. They had the same interest in books and they were all really nice to each other.

  5. 22.) Chris stayed at Bullhead City, Arizona the longest. I think he stayed there the longest because he had a good job there and was making money.
23.) I was surprised that Chris got a job at McDonalds. I think he applied there because it was easy to get the job because not many wanted that. I think him needing money triggered his attempt at a “conventional existence”.
24.) Chris never wore socks with his shoes at his job at McDonalds. I think this coincides with individualism.
25.) Colleagues from McDonalds described him as a slow worker. They also said that he was truly committed and showed up everyday on time. I think Chris would have rathered not being around them because he was better off alone. If I worked with Chris at McDonalds I would think he was homeless and didn’t choose to live like he was living.
26.) Chris’ relationship with Jan and Bob Burres was good and they got alone very well. I think they got along so well because they had a lot in common and they didn’t hover over Chris.

  6. 1.) The place that McCandless had stayed the longest is Bullhead City in Arizona. I believe that he had stayed in this city for the longest is because he needed money for the spring if he wanted to make it to Alaska, so he would stay there to make money at McDonalds. Also I think he stayed there because it was so small he felt comfortable enough to use his real name and not his alias Alexander. I think he figured that it was such a small place that he didn’t feel the need to hide.
2.) It surprised me that he would take such public job because he always took the random outdoors jobs. I think he might have got a consumer based job is that he might had missed the constant human interaction. Also he could have wanted to be in public so there would be record of him there for the authorities if anyone was trying to find it.
3.) Chris McCandless would go to work without socks, which is against the policy that he had to be under to work there. After management told him that he had to wear socks, he would put the socks on at work and than as soon as his shift was over the first thing he would do is take off his shoes. His actions are a example of rejection of modern society beliefs, which is a idea of Transcendentalism.
4.) Chris’s colleagues described him as he was slow and would always go at the same pace. Also they described as that he was in his own little universe. If I worked with Chris I would try to talk to him because I would find it interesting and would want to know why he was the way he was.
5.) Chris’s relationship with Jan and Bob was a parent relationship. I feel that they got along with Chris and Chris them is because they weren’t judgmental, they never asked too many questions. Also is because they lost a children so they think of Chris as that filling the void.

  7. 22. Chris stayed in Bullhead city, Arizona for the longest of all his stops. He thought that it would be a good place to spend the remainder of the winter. He also had a pretty steady job and very nice friends.
    23. i believe Chris got this job only because he needed to make some money in order to help pay for his Alaskan odyssey.
    24. Chris was not a big fan of wearing socks. However, it was required at his job at mcdonalds so he put up with it. But as soon as his break came he would take them right off. This shows his attraction to a natural way of living, and that coincides with transcindentalism.
    25. Most of Chris's colleagus described him as a deliberate and good worker, even though he was sometimes pretty slow. They also described him as a pretty odd guy, but for the most part he was a nice guy who mostly kept to himself. If I worked with Chris i would probably avoid him at first but I would most likely try to find out a bit about him before i judged him.
    26. Jan and Bob had lost there child and had a huge void to fill in their life. Chris coming along was the best thing for them, because it filled that void. They were very good friends to chris, but the realtionship they had with him was also somewhat of a parental one.

  8. 22) Of the longest of his stops, Chris stayed in Bullhead City. He spent around two months in Bullhead and met good friends and had a decent job.

    23) I believe that Chris got the job because he needed some money. He did the chain place because it was a large company and he had little chance of standing out.

    24) Chris' issue with socks and shoes deals with the natural living part of transendentalism. He hated to wear them and took thm off as soon as his shift was over.

    25) Chris' co-workers described him as a hard worker. Most of them would have wanted him to stay. The manager said his problem was that he was never in a hurry even during the big rushes. THe co-workers also said he was odd. I would like to get to know him before I said anything about him. I would spend time with him and then make an opinion.

    26) Chris filled the void of a lost child in Jan and Bob's life. Jan and Bob provided support and love for Chris. The three people had a very strong relationship because both had voids that were filled by the other.

  9. 22. He stayed for 2 months in Bullhead City, Arizona.
    23. I personally believe that Chris got this job because he greatly needed it to survive and just because of the fact that he had no other way to survive at the time.
    24. Chris would wear shoes but did not have a liking for wearing socks with them. This is an example of the aspect of him being anti-social.

  10. 22. The place that Chris had stayed the longest was Bullhead City, Arizona. From what I read, he wrote to Wayne and from what he read, it seemed as if he had an idea of staying there for good. He liked the place and said it was a good place to stay during the winter. He had obtained a fulltime job at McDonald's and had even opened a bank account. I think he thought of this place as a potential home.

    23. My reaction, is it is very weird that he obtained a fulltime job, and strayed away from his naturistic travels. Before he would only do work that was under the table and it was more labor than any cooking or serving jobs. It seems like maybe he thought about giving up. He stayed in this area for so long and he became a fulltime job owner and he also opened a savings account, intending he was saving for something.

    24. At McDonalds, they have dresscode rules, they state that the employee must wear shoes AND socks. Chris hated to wear socks because he had feet problems and they always itched. When McDonald's confronted him, he started wearing socks, but the minute his shift was over he would rip them right off. This is individualism because he did not want people to think they could tell him what to do and also because he felt there was no need for himself to wear socks.

    25. All of the colleagues views of him were quite interesting. One said that he was reliable in that he showed up at work everyday. Another person said that everyone there thought he was missing a couple of screws because he always talked about nature. One more person said that they didn't even know why he got hired because he worked at a slow pace and always stayed in the back. Chris didn't feel like he could be honest with his employees, and I think he was mad with them and that is why he just quit. If I worked with Chris I might think there was something a little odd about him, but I wouldn't judge, because you never know what is going on with that person's life.

    26. Chris was friends with the Burres. He traveled with them to a camp ground and stayed in touch with them for a little bit. I think the reason why he got along with them is because they wanted to be alone, they moved to an abandoned campground and they liked to travel. They also did favors for eachother and were nice to one another.

  11. 22. Chris stayed in Bullhead City, Arizona. I believe Chris stayed here so long because he had a lot of friends close by for him. Also Chris had a steady job that payed him enough for what he needed.

    23. I think Chris's job at McDonald's wasn't planned. I think he was thinking about fully committing to his plan on living in the wild and second guessed himself into working. He most likely chose McDonald's because it's a simple job where it's pretty easy to not get attention.

    24. At McDonald's they have a dress code rule and it says that employees must wear shoes and socks at all times. Of coarse Chris had to hate wearing socks. When his manager talked to Chris he was disappointed but he would follow the rules. Chris agreed to wear socks but at the end of every shift the first thing he would do is immediately take his socks off. This shows transcendentalism because Chris wanted to show the he was an individual and that no one could tell him what to do.

    25. All of his colleagues thought he was a very hard working individual and that that he was someone that could be depended on. However, if I worked with Chris I would of thought he was a very different person and a bit of a weirdo.

    26. They both got along so well because they both shared common interests of reading and they enjoyed the same same books
