  2. i can infer that Chris McCandless' story is very inspirational. Chris must have done something so important that he impacted the lives of many. He must have overcame the odds of dying and survived or something to that extent. Chris' journey must include the pushing the human will to the limit in a harsh environment.-----Mark D

  3. I can infer that Chris McCandless wrote a story that has inspired many to better themselves. He has helped many people and he did this without knowing any some of them. He was faced with an obstacle and in the face of that problem he overcame it in a heroic way. This is why he is compared in the above to Mother Teresa and Anne Frank as well as Mark Dobek. Chris has inspired many people and has helped many in many different ways.-----Alex Jez

  5. I believe the story of Chris McCandless is a very moving and an inspirational story that can seem unimaginable to some people. The nobility and courage that Chris held within his soul are why Krakauer became inspired by this young man. He devoted an entire book, written in admiration and reverence to him, for the incredible life that he followed. Krakauer, himself, was inspired by the amount of courage it took for McCandless to venture out on his own, overcome hardships, and face the dangers that the wild, Alaskan wilderness threw at him. Chris Mcandless's story proved to be such an inspiration to Krakauer, and that is why he wished to share his story with the rest of the world. I believe that heroic stories can seem so unreal such as, the story of the pilot in the miracle on the Hudson or the story of Anne Frank, until they are made known to the rest of the world; that is why Krakauer wished to share the story of the heroic journey that Chris McCandless experienced. Thus far I can infer that Chris McCandless's stubborn idealism and immense drive are what he is noteworthy for. I can also infer that Chris is seen as a noble role model for the determination it takes to accomplish life's journeys. I believe the power behind this young man and his own determination are what made him so heroic.

  6. Who is it who gets to judge the importance of one man's life? Does the man? Is it his biographer? Perhaps, it's his readers? Taken as it is, Chris McCandless's story was one that had a romantic flare. A young man gives up everything to be with nature. It was an idealistic life which many believe is pure but would be to afraid to do themselves. One can't judge his actions as correct, but they are brave. Bravery, though sometimes foolish, is always commendable.

  7. I can infer that the story of Chris McCandless is something that was very influential to those who read his story. What made his story so interesting was the fact that he did so well in school, that he was wealthy, and that he had a promising future. He chose the life of simpllicity over all of those things. I think that is one of the reasons his story is so inspriring and influential. He chose to do this without the consent of anyone he knew. SOme might call it dumb of him to do, but i found it to be pretty epic. - Dylan Rutherford

  8. I believe that the entire book, Into the Wild, was dedicated to Christopher McCandless because society found his story of simplicity very inspirational. His heroic actions and courageous determination helped him to leave his whole life behind and go into nature and discover the simple and small things in life. Many people also believed that his choice to do this was very intriguing and very different from most peoples vision of an idealistic society life. From reading the author's note you can infer that McCandless was very brave, inspirational, bold, stubborn and independent.

  9. The first thing i take from this book is that Chris is not a typical person. He left all of his worldly goods and gave all of his money to charity. There are not a lot of stories about people who just leave everything behind for a new life. It almost only happens in movies, which makes this story even more impressive. His story can impress on people that no matter what there dreams are, or what they want to do in their life, they can acieve it if they try hard enough.--Mike Sheridan

  10. I can infer that Chris McCandless has a thrist for advanture. He isn't afraid to go outside the circle of society to test the limits of humanity. I feel that that is a major reason for people to enjoy his story. Readers are attracted by the experiences and obstacles that they have no experienced yet or desire to. Even though he never did anything oridinally good to make the world a better place like Mother Teresa or Martin Luther King Jr., he still did something noticeable good for the people of the world. He showed people a new way of living. He showed that not just what society goes by is the only way to live a life.

  12. In the Author's Note, I believe that this book was dedicated entirely to Chris McCandles because of the way he lived his life. At the early age of 21-22, Christopher gave up luxuries and material items, that most people of that age would not be able to pass up. Just graduating from college, instead of pursuing a career he decided to dedicate his life to nature. He is a model human being in that he donated the $25,000 that he had (that was all that he had) to charity, gave up anything that would hold him back from living life as a transcendentalist. Before Jon Krakauer, published his book, Into the Wild, he published an article in a magazine, Outside, stating the way Chris lived his life, and the mysterious way of death. This article would be read by many people, and the amount of feedback would be the most that an article would ever receive. So yes, Chris, I feel is a role model, and noteworthy because he took into action what most philosophers can not like Thoreau developing theories, but not actually taking the actual experience. Chris went into the wild and lived as an individual and tried to find his inner being by being a transcendentalist.

  13. I think an entire book hase been ddevoted for Chris Mccandeless because he was a young man the showed a tremendous amount of courage and bravery that is an example for others to live by. Like Ghandi or Mother Trersa, Chris Mccandeless made himself stick out from the rest of the world by doing what he wanted to do not what society told him to do. What I can infer about Chris is that he is a very determined and dedicated individual. He knows what he wants and he's going to do it, no matter what someone else thinks. On the otherhand I can infer that Chris doesn't really know whats he doing and, I think, underestimating how difficult it will really be.

  14. I believe an entire book has been devoted to Chris Mccandeless because he was so courageous and so caring. He gave up all the fancy things he could have had in his life and decided that nature and giving to charity was more important than that. He's very inspirational and can teach people so many lessons, so his life can be of great value to this book's readers.

  16. I think that it can be inferred that his story has helped people and in way he is a hero. He may not know the people that he has affected directly but he has had a great impact on many lives. He has encountered many obstacles and managed to overcome them all. I think that he is a very brave man and his story deserves to be heard. In my opinion the entire story of Chris was devoted because he was a very courageous soul and had much to share.
